Where to Taste
Some of the best places to try wines are located in New York and New Jersey. Whether they are wine bars or restaurants, these places are favorites of mine and offer great selections of wines. All typically also have very good food options as well to enjoy with your wine.
- La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels
- Somm (Aldo) Wine Bar
- Cork Buzz
- Bar Jamon
- Terroir Tribeca
- Blue Ribbon Wine Bar (Downing St.)
- The Ten Bells
- The Four Horsemen
- Morrell Wine Bar &
- Vintry Wine & Whiskey
- The Tangled Vine
Where else is Tom Tasting? Tasting events!
For me, the places that I learn the most about my palate and about new wines are at wine tasting events. Comparative tastings offer the taster the absolute best way to compare wines head to head or side by side. Tasting wines together adds more context to the wines when you taste them together. The minute to drastic differences in color, aroma, flavor and texture offer a real-time perspective you can’t replicate tasting wines days or weeks apart. So in order for you to get an idea of the events that I am talking about, I cannot encourage you to participate in a few tastings a year to sharpen your palate.
