The NV Brut Grand Réserve Grand Cru is a pure Pinot Noir from Bouzy. It's pure, fresh, fine and aromatic on the nose and round and delicate on the palate. The fruit-intense finish is chalky-mineral and stimulatingly fresh in its salty finesse and elegant yeastiness. Nice lemon juice flavors give an extra kick of refreshment. This is a picture-book NV Brut. No indication of disgorgement given. Tasted with Jean-François Clouet's German importer in Bremen.
Dosage: 6 to 8 grams
Cepage: 100% Pinot Noir (100% Bouzy); 70% New Vintage & 30% Reserve Wine that is 2-5 years old stored in tank
Base wine maturation: 95% of the total wine is aged in tank, 5% in neutral barrels
Maturation in bottle: 36 months on the lees
Notes of yeasty golden delicious apples and pears, brioche, marzipan, with orange zest, clay, and some elegant baking spices. The palate is more medium in weight with a creamy edge to the fresh, bright and juicy acidity.
Andre Clouet (NM: Négociant-Manipulant.) The Clouet family were the official printers to Louis XV’s Royal Court, and that attention to filagreed printing is still evident in the work of the current generation. Jean-Francois Clouet is a bit of a showman and takes great pride in his family lineage. He lives in the house his ancestors built in 1741, with the wines cellared below and Jean-Francois living above. From a tasting we did a few months back we also have it on good authority that he quite enjoys Kentucky Bourbon in his down time. The domaine is comprised of 20 acres of Grand Cru vineyards in the middle slopes of the villages of Ambonnay and Bouzy
