The 2019 Lindes de Remelluri Viñedos de Labastida is a selection from 14.1 hectares of vineyards in 34 plots from growers in the village of Labastida at 440 to 710 meters in altitude on the alluvial terraces of clay and limestone soils. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and matured in barrels of different sizes and origins for 13 months. This is ripe and expressive, with a juicy palate and chalky tannins. 57,800 bottles and 490 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2021. -Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate (July 2022)

Years ago on my first (and only) trip to Spain's Rioja wine region, of all the visits we had scheduled in Rioja, Remelluri was the one I was looking forward to most in hopes of discussing the state of wine in Spain, particularly in Rioja, with Telmo Rodriguez. Telmo shares the responsibility of Remelluri with his sister Amaia, but it is his leadership that is moving Remelluri to the forefront of Rioja wine. Remelluri is making some of the best wines not only in Rioja but in all of Spain.
The Lindes de Remelluri line of wines are groundbreaking as they are dedicated to expressing the attributes of Rioja’s most distinctive wine villages. In the case of today's wine it is just Labastida. Viñedos de Labastida is a selection of 12.78ha divided between eight growers and 28 small plots, which express the peculiarities of this municipality, the birthplace of many of the most important wines in the history of Rioja. The vineyards at altitudes from 450m to 780m offer an honest and clear representation of the terroir of the Labastida village wines. Labastida always has a later harvest due to elevation and offers an expressive and aromatic expression of tempranillo. The cooler, rockier, and higher elevation sites here produce a wine lower in alcohol but higher in acidity and tannins than that of neighboring San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
