Established in 1982 by Dan and Helen Dusschee and now tended by their son Dustin, the iconic Freedom Hill Vineyard stands as a testament to sustainable stewardship. Tucked into the gentle southeast slope of an uplifted, ancient sedimentary seabed in the Coastal Range, this site is shielded from the Van Duzer wind, resulting in a slightly warmer microclimate compared to the neighboring Eola-Amity Hills.
Freedom Hill’s distinguished terroir is highlighted in the new Mt. Pisgah, Polk County AVA within the expansive Willamette Valley. From this exceptional vineyard, we source two adjacent 24-year-old Pinot Noir blocks of Pommard and Dijon 115, which are picked and co-fermented together.
Freedom Hill Pinot Noir opens generously with its signature intensity, revealing layers of wild raspberries, roasted plums, and the delicate allure of candied violets. It boldly unravels its flavors with an interplay of fruit alongside Earl Grey tea and anise. A luxurious texture emerges, intertwined with hints of earthy tobacco and a stony minerality. Silky tannins provide structure and depth, highlighting a balance between the wine's power and elegance. This vintage embodies Freedom Hill's distinctive character and remarkable potential.
