Maison Joseph Drouhin
93-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Fresh light lemon colour. The bouquet indicates a little more flesh, as is typical, but not at the expense of precision. As always this is extraordinarily intense on the palate, not yet as fleshy as it will become, but one can see into the future. Fine fruit and acid balance too, of course. 13.7% alcohol which makes sense for Clos des Mouches. (Nov 2023)"
95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Always a show-stopper, there is a little extra oomph in the 2022. The nose is spectacular with scents of pomelo, lemon, marzipan and honey. The palate sings with perfectly ripe fruit lifted by playful, bustling acidity. The long finish has a slightly chewy limestone tug. This vintage is especially worth seeking out. (2024)"
92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of buttered orchard fruit, orange blossom, baking spices and toasted nuts introduce the 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc (Domaine), with a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's fleshy and layered while retaining nice tension and cut. The Drouhin's seven hectares of Chardonnay in this premier cru were harvested over 15 days. (1/18/24)"
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(1921 purchased, 1928 the first white vintage). Fine freshness and more direct in style. A saline attack and with a more sweeping, less generous (though still some) shape. Super finishing intensity – that’s great Beaune – I think I’d rather have the Laguiche – but if you want great Beaune – look no further! (Jan 2024)"
