The 2017 Brut Rosé Metodo Classico Lambrusco di Sorbara is airy and spicy in the glass. This is pleasantly round with a pretty inner sweetness to balance its mineral-tinged bubbles and tart orchard fruits. The 2017 finishes remarkably fresh as a residual bump of acidity keeps the mouth watering and hints of sour citrus fade. Disgorged: April, 2023.

We had the opportunity to taste sparkling wines from Cantina della Volta from Emilia-Romagna.  We were impressed with the wine's elegance, finesse, creaminess - it was also delicious; we chose one of their wines, their Rosè, to offer to you.

It also happens that the Rosè is served the by-the-glass list at the world's best restaurant, Osteria Francescana in Modena, Emilia-Romagna!  Check it out here (page 2, top of the page).  Wine List - Osteria Francescana.  We understand why this wine was selected to be on such a prestigious wine list!  

Cantina della Volpe is focused on making fine sparkling in the style of Champagne.  They use all the classic Champenoise methods including using yeast from Champagne, fermenting at lower temperatures and ageing on the lees for a long time.  The Rosè is aged 54 months on the lees and an additional 18 months in bottle!  The results are impressive: a fine mousse, creamy texture, and a long finish.

The Rosè has hints of white strawberry, pomegranate and cherries.  It sees 2.5 hours of skin contact and has 6g/l residual sugar.   And did I mention this wine is make from Lambrusco di Sorbara grapes?  If you tasted this blind, you would never have guessed it; this is an elegant, delicate and delicious sparkling wine that just happens to a Lambrusco.  Try it, and you will be impressed...blind you'll swear you are in the Montage de Reims!
