The 2022 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling GG comes from the middle part of the cru around the rocks emerging from this site and opens with a delicate, finely weathered slate aroma intertwined with perfectly ripe and elegant fruit aromas. Savory on the palate, this is a refined and persistently saline Riesling with salt and tension yet also a richness and generosity that maybe takes a bit of the thrill. However, this is a long-distance runner with remarkable complexity and length. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

The 2022 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr GG is made from two parcels, one on single stake and one on wire trellis, both 32 years old, on either side of the Rotlay parcel. A creamy, perfumed nose transports red apple accompanied by lemon pith. The palate is smooth and citric but textured with creamy, pithy lemon notes. Very pure, very clear, with an intensifying notion of lemon and pith. The zesty finish is stunningly harmonious and balanced. The mouthwatering finish is cool and lasting.
