Cavallotto Barolo Riserva "Vignolo" 2018
Cavallotto Barolo Riserva "Vignolo" 2018

"Aromas of rose, woodland berry, underbrush and spice form the fragrant, expressive nose on the fantastic 2018 Vignolo Riserva. The smooth, delicious palate mirrors the nose, delivering fleshy raspberry, wild strawberry, truffle and baking spice before a minty finish. Tightly woven, polished tannins offer enveloping support while fresh acidity keeps it beautifully balanced. While this already almost approachable, it will age beautifully for years. Drink 2026–2038. Lustrous mid to deep ruby with orange tinges. Deep and concentrated but not really open on the nose, hinting at saline, minerally notes. Succulent yet still compact on the palate with deep, gravely tannins and with the perfect dose of supple acidity. A finely balanced, energetic whole. [Walter Speller, 15/11/2023]

From this cru come wines of excellent structure with tannins that are soft and sweet from early in its life.. The perfume is typically intense and open, evolving into an intense spiced fruit. The initial perfumes are fruity and then followed by floral aspects, then spices, all open and intense.
