The Bourgogne will have a few more months elevage. The purple colour is slightly more robust than the PTG. Several plots make up the blend, all below Volnay. The bouquet is more austere, evidently concentrated but less giving in perfume at the moment. Very concentrated raspberry fruit with a lot of structure, both tannins and acidity. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Oct 2023.
Wine Advocate (Kelley): The 2022 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is lovely, delivering aromas of plums, cherries and sweet berries, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate with a sweet core of fruit and a creditably persistent finish.
Vinous, Neal Martin: The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge offers raspberry and briar scents on the nice, light, yet well-defined nose. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, slightly crunchy tannins that lend a pleasant "bite" to this regional red. It's somewhat chalky in texture towards the dry finish. Fine.
Coming from different plots located in the commune of Volnay, in its eastern part, which is not on the hillside. The soils are quite deep, very clayey and not very calcareous. Historically, the Domaine Marquis d'Angerville exploited around 85 ares of red Burgundy in two plots (Grandes lands and Petits Prés). In 2019, the opportunity arose to acquire an additional hectare, also in several plots, close to our historic plots (Grandes Terres, Condemaine, Céquenceain). Vinified with the same care as the Premier Crus and Village appellations. The vines are sufficiently old (around 30 years on average) to give all their potential to the wine produced.
