Ok, you might be like, what, more Marsannay? But hear me out. Just when you think you have seen and heard of all of the wines we can get a few things appear that we overlooked. We offerd these last year to great fanfare, but its been a year plus since that offer and is time to grab the new vintages. While Pataille is pushing $100, Audoin $80, and they are both the best in the region, for under $50 you can get these wines that deliver the pleasure and typicity that you expect from these sites from one of the under-the-radar names in the region that is one of the single best values in the Kermit Lynch Burgundy Portfolio. Guiltless Burgundy is hard to find, but if yo have been scooping up the wines we have been putting out there you know we have a good sniffer for value in teh $35-50 price point in Burgundy. Why? Because we drink these too!
Let's also not forget, that the classification of the Marsannay village has been approved and is just a matter of time before Clos du Roy and Longeroies are promoted to Premier Cru. There will be no Grand Crus so these are the best that the village has in any given vintage and for sure will increase in price once this classification is in place.
If not for the exceptional quality of sites these wines come from alone, the intellectual aspect to these wines alone should draw you in. These are best in class bargains that are charming and typical of the sites and at sub-$50 are very rare in Burgundy for this kind of 1er-like quality.
If Marsannay had a classification, both Clos du Roy and Longeroies would be Premier Cru (1er) - two of the best sites in Marsannay as there won't be any Grand Cru. Bouvier's lieu-dit Bourgogne Rouge 'En Montre Cul' vineyard is of a quality well above most "Bourgogne" as it is cultivated on a steep slope, not flatland Bourgogne.
