En la Rue de Vergy is a superb vineyard located above the Grand Crus Clos de Tart, Bonnes Mares and adjacent to Clos des Lambrays. This domaine represents terrific value for several reasons – Marsannay is a less known Cote de Nuits terroir (except by insiders) with high quality terroirs that will likely be classified in the coming years, PLUS a dedicated and talented wine grower.
For an idea of who else makes a En la Rue de Vergey, Perrot-Minot, Lignier-Michelot, Feletigg, Bruno Clair, Rossignol, and Michel Gros all at $125-$200 each.
Ok, you might be like, what, more Marsannay? But hear me out. Just when you think you have seen and heard of all of the wines we can get a few things appear that we overlooked. We offerd these last year to great fanfare, but its been a year plus since that offer and is time to grab the new vintages. While Pataille is pushing $100, Audoin $80, and they are both the best in the region, for under $50 you can get these wines that deliver the pleasure and typicity that you expect from these sites from one of the under-the-radar names in the region that is one of the single best values in the Kermit Lynch Burgundy Portfolio. Guiltless Burgundy is hard to find, but if yo have been scooping up the wines we have been putting out there you know we have a good sniffer for value in teh $35-50 price point in Burgundy. Why? Because we drink these too!
Let's also not forget, that the classification of the Marsannay village has been approved and is just a matter of time before Clos du Roy and Longeroies are promoted to Premier Cru. There will be no Grand Crus so these are the best that the village has in any given vintage and for sure will increase in price once this classification is in place.
Lastly, the hidden easter egg in the bunch is the More-Saint-Denis "En la Rue de Vergy" that is sandwiched between 3 of the best vineyards in ALL of Burgundy. You can see it on the map above circled red while the yellow are the following legendary sites:
