A cuvée that incorporates lots of fruit from the commune of Verzy, the 2020 Mâcon-Villages Les Sardines delivers aromas of orange oil, baking spices and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and lively palate, concluding with an intense, sapid finish. It's easy to see why it's a favorite with many of the region's best restaurants.
• 41-year-old vines in limestone soils (5ha)
• Fermentation and aged 18 months in used French oak barrel
• The painter of the Mâcon-Villages “Les Sardines” label is Denis Pesnot, an artist based in Morgon. In addition to this label, Denis painted the murals on the ceiling of the winery at Domaine Lapierre. Denis and Jean-Jacques Robert have known each other for years through their mutual friendships with Marcel Lapierre and the Gang of Four.
