NYR-93+ pts Vinous Galloni (2019 Vintage)
The 2019 Barbaresco Pora is a potent, rather brooding wine marked by palpable fruit density and structure. Dark fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, tobacco and incense add to its imposing, rather brooding, feel. I would give this a good bit of air. Readers will find a deep, backward Barbaresco. It will be fascinating to see how this ages. - By Antonio Galloni on September 2023
NYR-93+ pts Vinous Galloni (2018 Vintage)
The 2018 Barbaresco Pora offers up scents of sweet tobacco, cedar, tobacco, orange peel and blood orange give the Pora striking aromatic presence. This mid-weight wonderfully nuanced Barbaresco has a ton to offer. The 2018 is quite open in its aromatics, but could use another year or two in bottle to start showing at its best. Sadly, there is just one 600-liter barrel's worth to go around.

A wine conceived almost as a challenge, made from one of the most extensive, historic crus in the Barbaresco wine-growing area and one of the most long-lasting. Greeted with acclaim as soon as it was vinified separately for the first time in 2004.
Planting of vineyards: 1948
Type of soil: bluish clayey-limestone marl
Position: facing south-west
Harvest: between the end of September and the beginning of October
Winemaking: The destemmed grapes ferment on the skins in heat-controlled steel tanks for 7 to 15 days. The ageing then takes place in third-fill barriques for 24 months, followed by 10 months in the bottle before the wine is released onto the market a year later.
