Pora Cru Barbaresco 2021
Ca del Baio
Barbaresco, Piemonte
EXTREMELY RARE & LIMITED - just one 500L neutral tonneau (a neutral barrel the size of 2 regular barrels) in a good vintage
94 pts Vinous Galloni
The 2020 Barbaresco Pora is a powerful, brooding wine. Even so, it retains notable energy. Dark red fruit, leather, licorice, dried flowers and mocha add to a feeling of virile intensity. This somber, expressive Pora is quite impressive. All it needs is time in bottle. This is a pretty wine for Ca' del Baio. - By Antonio Galloni on September 2024
A wine conceived almost as a challenge, made from one of the most extensive, historic crus in the Barbaresco wine-growing area and one of the most long-lasting. Greeted with acclaim as soon as it was vinified separately for the first time in 2004.
Planting of vineyards: 1948
Type of soil: bluish clayey-limestone marl
Position: facing south-west
Harvest: between the end of September and the beginning of October
Winemaking: The destemmed grapes ferment on the skins in heat-controlled steel tanks for 7 to 15 days. The ageing then takes place in third-fill barriques for 24 months, followed by 10 months in the bottle before the wine is released onto the market a year later.
