Elena Vermouth di Torino Superiore Bianco 2021
From the former owner of VIETTI in Barolo comes the most exciting Vermouth project in recent years!
Ingredients: The challenge embraced by the Currado Vietti family has been to utilize the Timorasso Derthona 2021 wine, to which a selection of botanicals and natural herbs from Piedmont is blended, according to an ancient family recipe. These ingredients are used in a one-shot infusion process.
Aging: steel tanks.
Alcohol Content: 18% vol.
Bottle size: 750 ML
Color: Straw yellow.
Bouquet: Winey, elegant, and refined with notes of sweet orange, thyme, mint, gentian, and hints of vanilla. The spicy part, very delicate, presents scents of cinnamon. The perception of wormwood is well defined at the end.
Palate: Winey, fruity, decidedly harmonious. Long-lasting and spicy with a pleasantly sweet finish. The significant winey character, despite the use of traditional spices, gains volume at the close of the tasting.
Serving Temperature: 8-10 °C
Pairings: On the rocks with a single ice cube, without the addition of citrus zest, as an aperitif or a‑er a meal.
Production Method: Fresh and dried botanicals are finely chopped. This is followed by a cold extraction for three weeks, which helps to enhance the natural aromatic substances. The Timorasso-Derthona is subsequently added to the extract. The process is then completed with the addition of alcohol and sugar. Before the final aging of 50 days, the Vermouth is stabilized with refrigeration and filtered.
Tasting tips
Have you decided to try white Vermouth, but would like some advice on how to try it? No worries, here are our suggestions. The first tasting we suggest is neat, with a couple of ice cubes. This way, you can fully savor its taste and focus on the unique characteristics that make it so elegant and velvety. Add a lime or orange zest if you want to try a more aromatic approach.
Pairings
Once you have experimented with white Vermouth, then you can delve into a truly special pairing: try it with a small tasting of semi-hard cheeses. Delicate, harmonious, it enhances the botanicals it contains thanks to the intense and fragrant character of the cheese’s aging. A burst of flavors that will captivate you from the first taste.
A privileged relationship with Gin
Because of the organoleptic characteristics of Vermouth, the pairing with Gin within cocktails is perfect. More than perfect, in fact: we might call it sumptuous. The aromatic notes of Gin harmonize with the characteristics of white Vermouth, creating balanced, aromatic, and intense cocktails. Give it a try: experiment with your recipes or be inspired by the advice of the most established bartenders, it will be a very pleasant journey of discovery!
