No score on the 2012 yet, but the 2009 is a great note (93VM below) to compare against.  We just had the 2009 the other day and it is a TREMENDOUS champagne, truly displaying it's LONG CELLAR AGING (10+ years on the lees) and OLD VINE fruit intensity and complexity. NO malolactic just adds to the fun and complexity!

Our Tasting Note (2009):
A med+ gold color, persistent and tiny bubbles in the mousse. A deep and pronounced nose of tertiary white orchard fruits and citrus, salinity, dried flowers, wet river stones, chalk, a touch of honey from the bottle aging, a hint of creamy lees notes from the 10 years of lees bottle aging. Med+ bodied, the density is apparent but light on the palate from the racy acidity (no malo), lots of tiny persistent textural bubbles. Excellent palate intensity and drive, with tertiary and secondary notes abound. Long in the complex and generous and still fresh finish.  The intensity from the old vine fruit and the long lees aging combined with no malo really combine to make an epic bottle of champagne that is tremendously hard to find at this price from other producers under $150.

The Cuvée Exhilarante is Le Brun Servenay's flagship bottling, an excellent wine amongst the growers of the Cote de Blancs and an incredible expression for its mineral intensity and linear character, all backed by old vine power, depth, and richness.

The Chardonnay Millésimé is 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay. The core of the cuvée is made up of three vineyards with very old vines in Cramant and Avize. The first is a parcel of 50 ares in Avize: part of which is 30 years old and part of which is more than century old, planted by the grandfather of the 81-year-old gentleman, Patrick, who purchased the vineyard from him in 1989. The second parcel, planted in 1937, is in Cramant and belonged to Patrick’s paternal grandfather. A third parcel is on the border of Cramant and Avize: two of the most assertive terroirs in the Côte des Blancs giving very saline and mineral wines.

Vinified in stainless steel with malo blocked before spending just short of a 10 years on its lees. Pure and coiled bubbles and one that consistently garners big notes from Galloni. This is a serious bottle of bubbles for a modest price well below what it usually commands!

2009: 93 pts Vinous
Le Brun Servenay’s 2009 Extra Brut Exhilarante is 80% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Noir and 10% Meunier from 40-80 year old vineyards in Avize, Cramant and Oger, all Grand Cru villages. Radiant, open and inviting, the 2009 offers a super-appealing combination of power and approachability. The red grapes here seem to really turbo charge the Chardonnay. - By Antonio Galloni on March 2019 Patrick Le Brun crafts rich, vinous Champagnes that show the more potent, structured side of Avize and the Côte de Blancs. Vinification and aging in steel, with blocked malolactic fermentation, gives these Champagnes from old-vine vineyards a sense of starkness that is deeply intriguing. Readers should plan on giving the wines a good bit of air, as they really do need time to show everything they have.
