This wine consists of a blend of fruits harvested from 5 different climates (the Plateaux, Belles Croix, Fleurières, Brûlées, and the Chaliots), which covers a 2 hectare (5 acres) surface area on the Henri Gouges property. All of these parcels are located at the south of Nuits Saint Georges, at the start of the hillside, on deep soils, with a blending of clay, alluvium and limestone gravels. These wines are pure and generous, and need a few years before being tasted, to show their true potential.
95 points Wine Spectator
A bright, succulent style, this boasts black cherry, blackberry, spice and mineral aromas and flavors. Vibrant and elegant in profile, with terrific harmony and a long, fruitfilled aftertaste.
91 points John Gilman, A View From the Cellar
Interestingly, the domaine bottling of Nuits St. Georges AC seems a bit riper in personality than the Maison version in 2020, but equally pure and precise. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a blend of black raspberries, cassis, balsam bough, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, just a dollop of new oak and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite sappy at the core, with really fine focus and balance, ripe, firm tannins, fine grip and a long, nascently complex and impressively cool finish. I did not make a note of the octane level for this wine, but I would guess it is around 14.5 percent in this vintage and yet carries itself very well indeed. (Drink between 2033-2075)
