The 2015 Vinha do Fojo (Quinta do Fojo) was aged for 23 months in 60% new French barriques and comes in at 14% alcohol. Oh, my. This announces its presence as a wine you'd better account for only after 40 minutes in a glass. Then, it shows off pure power, although not astringency. It has admirable depth too. The opening pour shows some fruit, some oak and some power, but then the power just takes over. It's handled very well, but take note that this is made for a wine lover with a cellar. It will need a few years, at least, of even more aging.

• Douro sub-region: Cima Corgo
• Produced at the Quinta do Fojo located at the left bank of the Valley of the Pinhão river
• Vineyard: Made exclusively from the Old Vines of the property, 7 ha with a field blend where the Tinta Roriz is the most planted grape variety. Mediterranean climate.
• Hard rock terraced schist soil vineyards. The vineyard stands 270m to 370m above sea level.
• Vinification: The fermentation is held in shallow granite vats called "lagares", where the grapes are foot trodden.
• Aging: The aging took place in French oak barrels, 60% new and 40% used, lasting for 23 months.
• Bottled in June 2018.
• The production was of 12,000 bottles.
