Quite a dark red; fruit gums, red lozenges feature in a slightly sealed up aroma, has a gentle curve. The palate is loose, red-fruited, fine tannins on board, pert freshness at the end. It’s easy to drink, skims along, can be drunk solo, has a suitably rounded finale, away from any vegetal notions. It’s a tiny bit dry late on. “We did a lot of sorting, harvested late, started 29 September; there wasn’t much rot; I applied a little SO2 at the vat for psychological reasons – I don’t usually do that,” Jean-Claude Marsanne. 12.5°. 2026-27 May 2023
