The dry Riesling 2021 Mélange is from the fruit of the historic, up to date original (not consolidated) Eltviller Mönchhanach, which was integrated into the Langenstück in the 1979s. The cru was cultivated for centuries by Schloss Elz, until 50 years ago one of the most prestigious producers in the Rheingau. Eva has cultivated the cru since 2019, after she took the lease over from Langwerth von Simmern and switched the cultivation of this heartbreak cru to organic farming immediately. Eva's 2021 offers a deep, pure, intense and stony nose of ripe, lush and concentrated fruits intertwined with quartzite aromas. Full-bodied, dense and concentrated on the palate, this is—after being aerated—a finessed, saline and playful but persistent Riesling with lots of salt but also lush, ripe stone fruit aromas. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in November 2022.
