Blanc de Lynch-Bages was first released in 1990 and is historically one of the first white wines produced by a Grand Cru Classé in the Médoc.

The wine is made from a blend of the Bordeaux appellation’s three traditional white grape varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle.

Approximately 75% of the juice is vinified in individually temperature-controlled barrels. As a result, the wines preserve their fresh aromas throughout the process. The wines are then stirred on lees on a regular basis and are aged for a period of six months before bottling.

Characteristic of fine Bordeaux whites, Blanc de Lynch-Bages is bright and flavorful with citrus aromas in its youth and develops harmonious floral notes with ageing.

From vines just to the west of the estate and mostly Sauvignon Blanc, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages Blanc is a solid effort, offering classic notes of lemon curd, white flowers, and subtle minerality, medium body, good freshness and purity, and a clean, dry finish.

The 2018 Blanc de Lynch Bages is showing a little reduction, opening out to notions of warm peaches, passion fruit and gooseberries plus suggestions of honeysuckle, coriander seed and chalk dust. Medium-bodied, the palate is completely filled with tropical and citrus flavors plus a racy backbone, finishing long with a touch of chalkiness. (LPB)

Complex aroma that is herbal, spicy and with a lovely nose that is so typically Bordeaux Blanc. Cedary but with lemon and grapefruit freshness too. Slight grip, moderate concentration, more interesting aromatically than for its intensity. Not very long but super-fresh. 16.5/20 points (JH)
