**** JLL
(casks, bottling end April 2023) bright red robe; cherry fruit with an open manner on the nose, a hint of herbs. The palate links to the nose, holds juicy content with a little underpin of tannin. It’s a good ensemble, with pleasing length, is w.o.w. wine, in the zone. 12.8% abv. 30,000 b. To 2026 May 2023
Les Graviers is a négociant blend of Syrah from three vineyard sites in the Rhône Valley. The majority of fruit comes from the southern parts of the Drôme and Ardèche regions, and a smaller amount comes from vineyards around Tournon. Les Graviers means gravel, which is a reference to the humble-yet-essential stone used in everyday life. The name has a few other meanings to Cecillon: First, the winery was a former gravel warehouse, and second, the market square in Tournon where Julien grew up is called Place des Graviers.
Vineyard: 70% Ardeche Sud: Saint-Martin d’Ardeche, 30% Rhone Nord 4ha
Soil: 30% granite, 70% clay-limestone soils with pebbles.
Vine age: Between 15 and 80 years old (30% old vines)
Vinification: 70% destemmed / 30% whole-cluster native yeast fermentation in stainless steel vats.
Winemaking: 50% bottled after being aged for 7-8 months, 50% bottled after being aged for 14 months in oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: With 30% whole clusters retained, the wine is crafted in stainless steel and aged in neutral barrels. A beautiful entry to the range, as it blends rusticity and their soft touch elegantly.
