Cobb Pinot Noir 'Rice-Spivak Vineyard' 2021
97+ pts Wine Advocate: The 2019 Pinot Noir Rice Spivak Vineyard was made with about 40% whole clusters and matured for 22 months in 40% new French oak. It has a medium ruby color and pure aromas of cranberries, raspberries and rhubarb—those dark red fruit characteristics of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir in the 2019 vintage—plus accents of orange peel, Angostura bitters, moss and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate manages a slender frame and very intense flavors, supported by an abundance of silty tannins and juicy acidity driving the very long, very layered finish. - Erin Brooks
Our take: While I have not had this one yet, it is my favorite wine they make consistently. Lots of stem inclusion from spicy ripe stems, classic red fruits, the nose on this one is usually off the charts! This could easily go up against many a great village red Burgundy from the Nuits' best villages.
Winery:
Rice-Spivak is one of the most consistent vineyards we work with. Year after year this site yields some of the most high-quality and approachable wines in our portfolio. Still definitely a western Sonoma Coast wine with lots of minerality through its core, the 2019 Rice-Spivak has a layer of plush fruit that gives it balance and softness on the palate
