Grapes: 88% Tempranillo, 8% Garnacha, 4% Mazuelo
The grapes are harvested using “Selected Manual Harvesting” in 10 kg boxes and always at the optimum time to guarantee perfect alcoholic and phenolic ripening. After the selection in the field, we will do another selection before entering the winery using a “selection table” to keep the best grapes. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place in truncated cone-shaped tanks with a capacity of 18,000 litres. Ageing takes place in 225 litre Bordeaux barrels for 24-28 months, combining new and semi-new barrels (225 litres) of French and American oak. Ageing in bottles until optimum time, prior to release to the market.

David Garcia, aka "Perica" a nickname from his grandpa, is responsible for maintaining old Rioja traditions and keeping his family estate at the peak of Rioja quality. This is the oldest family-run Bodega in San Asensio and we love all their wines. With the rich Tempranillo this vintage, he still coaxes Pinot Noir-like elegance, and adds the complexity of Garnacha and Mazuelo.

Don Juan García, founder of the winery, intended these wines for local consumption and for sale in neighbouring towns. Little by little, due to the success achieved, it was his son Don David García, affectionately nicknamed Perica, who inherited the project and consolidated it, giving it his nickname, creating the winery and registering it with the Regulatory Council of the Rioja Designation of Origin in 1950.

Currently, it is the third generation, Rosa and David, who lead the project, the children of "Perica", together with their professional team, have decided to carry out important reforms in the winery to implement the latest technologies in the winemaking process and focus it on wine tourism
