Another favorite and popular pickup from the tasting! As the name indicates, the salinity and minerality here takes charge of the nose and palate, offering a complete contrast to the Malagouzia.
One of the best value brands from Greece, particularly for his expertise with Moscofilero, fans of his can find more of his wines here: SKOURAS WINES

Moscofilero: A pink-skinned grape. Produces aromatic, light to medium bodied white wines with crip acidity. Notes of rose petal and spice.
Salto: A wine of 100% Mavrofilero that ferments with wild yeast. A slight variant from Moscofilero that is dark skinned, grey/pink, it is more aromatic, mineral and complex.
Mavrofilero is one of the most aromatic clones of Moscofilero and is called as Mavro(black)-filero because of its dark pinkish skin. The winery started producing this variety in 2005. The vineyards are located in Mantineia at 600m with a clay-sandy dominant type of soil.
The Mavrofilero ferments with wild yeast. The reason for this choice was to achieve the best expression of the aromas of the variety and to enhance the evolution of the wine in the bottle. There are three reasons that make the vinification of this wine very special: the receipt of free-run juice which is limited to a maximum of 48% due to the colored skins, the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 16˚C with wild yeast and the short aging on its fine lees.
Our Tasting Note: The nose is pronounced and complex with aromas of citrus (think sweet lemon, lime, grapefruit), kiwi and green apple too, rose, and juniper add complexity, while the notes of saline frame it all. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, powerful and delicious, textural and refreshing acidity with the flavors of citrus, orchard fruits, florals, herbs, and a rich underpinning of minerality. Long and refreshing on the finish.

George Skouras was born in Argos, one of the oldest towns of Europe with a 3,000 years long tradition of wine and culture. In 1980, George went to study Agriculture at the University of Dijon, in Burgundy, France. However, like many inspired winemakers, his acquaintance with the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs of the region, as well as the famous local wine growers, put a spell on him. On graduating from Dijon with a degree in oenology, George started gathering experience in many classic wine-producing regions of France, Italy and Greece. A long-held vision, the creation of Domaine Skouras materialized in 1986. Initially, the small wine-making facility was in Pyrgela, a small village on the outskirts of Argos. The next logical step was the creation of a boutique winery in the Nemea Appellation area, in the village of Gimno. - Winery
