The last edition from the high elevation clonal mix block--wonderful balance and intensity to close the curtain on Hannaford and crew's final season farming the site. The core of the blend came from a 500L puncheon that was filled directly from pressing with no settling of juice, balanced by two 228L barrels, one new. This site handles the wood beautifully, with mouthwatering acids across the palate, supporting the more exotic fruit tones we’ve come to expect from this three clone medley at 900 feet; the “bullseye” of the Dundee Hills (above Maresh). Aged on lees in cooperage until mid September, and finished in stainless steel until bottling on the 23rd of January, 2023.
Our Tasting Note: Pale gold. This is so densely perfumed with minerality and tension, blind it reminds me of a Grand Cru Chablis meets 1er Chassagne-Montrachet hybrid. The nose add notes of sweet fresh lemon citrus, zest, with that hallmark saline, crushed seashells, and chipped chalky rocks, with a savory edge to the fruit. This is linear and complex texturally as well, with med+ acidity. The palate is medium-bodied, med+ in intensity, with a med+ finish. 13% abv
